The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Aerospace Committee convened its first meeting of 2024 under the leadership of new chair and Knight Aerospace CEO Bianca Rhodes.  Bianca graciously hosted the committee at Knight Aerospace at Port San Antonio on Friday, January 19th.  With a packed house, Bianca held a discussion about the future of the aerospace industry in our region. Guests included Greater San Antonio Chamber members Jim Perschbach, CEO of Port San Antonio, and Tyler Schroeder, 2024 Chair of the Greater San Antonio Chamber’s Education and Workforce Development Council and member of the Boeing San Antonio team.

Following the discussion about where the aerospace industry is headed and listening to visions for San Antonio’s aviation and commercial space industries, Bianca heard from committee members about their thoughts on 2024 priorities.  Several members from around the region shared concerns and thoughts about what actions the committee should take this year.  The ideas were varied and covered areas such as workforce training and education, better coordination with military missions in the region, and highlighting the local aerospace industry to a global audience.

2024 will be a packed year with an ambitious agenda. The Aerospace Committee will next meet in a joint session with the Education and Workforce Development Council on February 14th.
