Our 123rd Annual Gala was a night of excitement, entertainment, and celebration. From the magical snow that fell during the event to the moving and motivational speeches from our 2017 Chairman Rad Weaver and our 2018 Chairman Shaun Kennedy, it was certainly a night to remember. Throughout the evening, attendees enjoyed the music of the Stan Wayne Band, the chef-attended gourmet food destinations, and visiting with friends and colleagues. During his remarks, Rad Weaver reviewed the Chamber’s 2017 priorities, including advocating on behalf of our members, implementing the “Wellness Connection,” and launching MentorSA. He encouraged the audience to think about someone who helped them at some point in their lives, and he asked them to return the favor and become a mentor. To close out his year as Chairman, Rad issued a "call to arms" and encouraged everyone to do a little more – help someone, speak up and get involved in divisive issues, or figure out a way to provide hope to those who need it.
Following his speech, Rad handed the official Chamber gavel over to Shaun Kennedy, who shared his 2018 focus of Transformational Collaboration with the crowd. During 2018, the Chamber will work in concert with several organizations, including the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation, the city and county, other Chambers of Commerce, the military, and many others to ensure we are on the correct path to designing the framework to build a solid foundation for San Antonio’s future. He also shared the specific priorities the Chamber team will focus on throughout next year.
Following remarks from our Chairman and Chair elect, we gave away an eight-day trip for two to South Africa to our lucky raffle winner, Teresa Salazar from IBC Bank, and continued on with the celebration. The gala was followed by the lively President's After Party, where guests continued to mix, mingle, and dance to the incredible music of DJ Freddie Washington.
